The Significant Differences between a Pouffe and an Ottoman

The similar appearances and functions performed by both pouffe and ottoman tend to confuse people about their true identity. While both of them can be used for sitting, they are pretty different from each other and also designed for different uses.

What is Ottoman?

Ottoman is considered to be a modified structure of a divan, which has a padded seat without any head or back. But, nowadays, its functions aren’t only limited to a sitting pad. It has been modified and restructured as a cushioned piece with a pad that is used for seating, resting feet, keeping things, and also as a coffee table.

What is Pouffe?

The word ‘Pouffe’ is a French term that is used to define something that is puffed out. It is pretty similar to a footstool but differs in function, as it is primarily used as a low seat or sometimes as a footrest.

Functional Differences

An ottoman is normally used as a seating place, footrest, coffee table, small table, alternative sofa, and also for storage purpose due to its hollow cavity.
On the other hand, a pouffe is used as a cushioned seat with a lower height compared to an ottoman and as a footrest. Its work isn’t as varied as an ottoman.

Size

An ottoman is way bigger compared to a pouffe. And, since a pouffe is used as a low seat or a footrest, it is structured with a low height as well.
